Why do you to Login Asus Router?
The very first question I’d like to answer is, why would you even want to login to your Asus router? There are quite a few answers to the question.
The Asus router login page is what lets us make some of the basic as well as advanced changes to the router, some of which include:
- Changing the login credentials for the router.
- Changing WiFi password.
- Change Port Forwards
- Block/Unblock sites etc.
All this (and a lot more) can be done only after you’ve logged into your Asus router web-interface.
Pre-Requisites for Asus Router Login
There are a handful of basic requirements before you can login to your Asus Route web-interface. You’d need:
- An Asus Router (obviously).
- A browser.
- Asus router default gateway.
- Asus router default Username and Password.
In case you don’t have the Asus router default gateway (default IP Address) and/or the router’s default username and password, worry not we’ve shared both of those details here as well.
What is Asus Router Default IP Address?
This is the web-address which you need to type onto your browser’s URL bar in order to login to your Asus router. Even though the IP Address is numeric, it works and functions just like a normal alphabetic website address.
The default Asus router IP address is- http://192.168.1.1. You can simply copy this and paste it onto your browser’s URL bar.
Or you can also try accessing http://router.asus.com. This too will get you the same webpage and looks more familiar than an IP Address for some.
What is Asus Router Default Username and Password?
The Asus router default username and password are basically the login credentials set by the company for every new router.
Each brand has its own default combination of username and password. Although note that for some router brands the default credentials may vary depending on their different models as well.
Although there only are a few combinations which are used globally by most routers. We will share the Asus default username and password, as well as the other possible combinations as well which will help you login to your Asus router.
The most possible default combination for Asus router is:
- Username: admin
- Password: admin
If that doesn’t work, you should try:
- Username: admin
- Password: password.
If that fails as well, this should work:
- Username: (blank)
- Password: admin (or) password.
How to Login Asus Router? [Step by Step]
You now have the Asus router default IP address, as well as the default username and password. Armed with that knowledge, you can now try to login to your Asus router.
Step #1-> Enter the IP Address provided above in your browser’s URL.
Step #2:-> Enter the default login credentials in the “username” and “password” fields. Note that the exact layout may slightly vary depending on the exact model of the brand.
Done. You should’ve now successfully logged in.
How to Change SSID and WiFi Password for Asus Router?
The SSID is basically the name of your WiFi connection. The Password obviously is the password used to connect to the router’s WiFi.
The credentials should be changed considering how you may not want your neighbors using up all of your data without your permission.
In order to change the credentials, first login to your Asus router (steps provided above) and click on “Wireless” from the left sidebar.
Then simply edit the SSID on the right-pane. If you scroll down, you’d see the “WPA Pre-shared Key” box. This is the password field, change the value next to it to change your WiFi Password.
And finally click “Apply” on the page to save the settings.
Why isn’t the IP Address isn’t Working?
The IP address is router-brand specific. Each brand has its very specific IP address, so you can’t use the IP address from brand X to access the web-interface for brand Y.
Hence make sure you do own an Asus router. If you’re absolutely sure of that, there’s a chance another owner or a third-party may have changed the default IP address for the web-interface.
A common solution to the problem is resetting your router. Simply hold the reset button on the rear-end of the router for 10 seconds and all the settings (IP address, login credentials, WiFi credentials etc). would go back to their default values.
So that’s a wrap as far as this Asus Router login piece goes. I believe I’ve shared all the basic steps as well as the credentials needed to log into your router successfully.
If you’re still unable to do so, either call Asus toll-free number -1800 209 0365, or leave a comment and we may be able to help you out.
